They had a length of approximately 67 meters (220 feet) and a displacement of around 769 tons (surface) and 871 tons (submerged). The crew complement of a Type VIIC U-Boat typically consisted of around 44 to 52 crew members, including officers and enlisted personnel. The Type VIIC submarines were armed with various torpedoes and deck guns. They usually carried a mix of torpedoes for use against surface vessels and other submarines.
