“The Old Man and the Sea” tells the story of Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who has gone 84 days without catching a fish. Despite his bad luck, Santiago remains determined to prove his worth as a fisherman. He sets out alone in his small skiff into the Gulf Stream, where he hooks a massive marlin. Over the course of several days, Santiago engages in a grueling battle with the marlin, enduring physical exhaustion, hunger, and injury. Despite his age and frailty, Santiago refuses to give up, displaying unwavering determination and resilience in his struggle against the powerful fish. Eventually, Santiago manages to harpoon the marlin and lash it to the side of his skiff, but his triumph is short-lived. On his journey back to shore, Santiago faces new challenges, including attacks from sharks drawn to the scent of the marlin’s blood. By the time he finally returns to land, little remains of the marlin except its skeleton.
