The BM-13 was a multiple rocket launcher that could fire a salvo of rockets at the enemy. It was based on a truck chassis, typically the Ural-375 or ZiS-6, and featured a set of launch rails mounted on the back of the vehicle. These launch rails held a series of unguided rockets, which were fired in rapid succession. The rockets used by the BM-13 were known as M-13 rockets, which had a caliber of 132 mm. They were unguided and carried a high-explosive warhead. The launcher was capable of carrying up to 16 rockets, which could be fired within a short period of time, saturating the target area with devastating firepower.
