The Brandenburg Gate is situated in the heart of Berlin, at the western end of Unter den Linden boulevard. It stands near the Pariser Platz square and is one of the main entry points to the city’s historic center. The gate was built in the late 18th century as a neoclassical triumphal arch. It was constructed between 1788 and 1791 under the orders of King Frederick William II of Prussia. The Brandenburg Gate features a central arch flanked by smaller pedestrian arches on each side. It is adorned with six Doric columns on each side of the central arch, creating a grand and stately appearance. The Quadriga, a sculpture of a chariot drawn by four horses, crowns the gate and symbolizes victory.
