The Whydah Gally is one of the most famous pirate shipwrecks. It was originally a slave ship before being captured by the notorious pirate Blackbeard in 1717. The ship sank off the coast of Massachusetts, USA, during a storm. The wreck was discovered in 1984, and extensive artifacts, including cannons, gold, and other treasures, have been recovered from the site. Queen Anne’s Revenge was the flagship of the infamous pirate Blackbeard. Originally a French slave ship, it was captured by Blackbeard in 1717 and became his most powerful vessel. The ship ran aground near Beaufort, North Carolina, in 1718. The wreck was discovered in 1996, and ongoing excavations have revealed numerous artifacts and provided insights into Blackbeard’s life as a pirate.
